For more than five decades, George Allen has been one of Springwater’s most dedicated community sport builders. As a leader in Elmvale Minor Hockey, he served in executive roles including secretary, treasurer and president while helping expand opportunities for young athletes. Beyond hockey, George organized softball tournaments, coached championship teams, developed youth fitness and cross-country programs, and supported track and field success. Following the 1974 Elmvale Arena fire, he played a key role in restoring facilities and ensuring local sports continued to thrive. George also helped lead the redevelopment of the arena, creation of Heritage Park, preservation of local sports history via his "Chapters" books, and numerous community recreation initiatives. His vision, leadership and volunteer service have left a lasting legacy throughout Springwater.

George Allen’s profound impact on local sports began in 1969 when he joined the executive of
the Elmvale Minor Hockey Association (EMHA). Over a decade of leadership as Secretary,
Treasurer, and President, George established a formal constitution and meticulous record-

The 1984 Juvenile Championship Run: The Moreau Farm Equipment team was famously
described as a "rowdy but fiercely determined" group that George managed to channel
into a disciplined, championship-winning squad.
