George Allen Highlights


1969: Joined the Elmvale Minor Hockey Association executive, serving as Secretary,Treasurer, and President over a defining decade.
1973: Awarded the EMHA Doug McConnell Memorial Trophy.
1974: Proactively secured updated arena insurance months before a devastating fire, providing vital recovery funds. Co-led a $50,000 lottery to rebuild the facility debt-free within eight months.
1974: Co-founded the South Shore League to provide inclusive hockey opportunities for local youth.
1984: Coached the Moreau Farm Equipment Juveniles to the OMHA Provincial Championship. Named EMHA Coaching Staff of the Year.
1986: Guided the Hapamp Construction Bantams to the OMHA "C" Division Provincial Crown in a thrilling 7-game final series. (Note: Corrected from 1987).
1987: Named EMHA Coaching Staff of the Year for a second time.
1994: Co-chaired the $2.1 million Elmvale Arena Retrofit and Modernization committee.
1998: Spearheaded the creation and subsequent 25-year upkeep of the 7.4-acre Heritage Park.
2002: Received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for outstanding community service.
2010: Co-chaired the Accommodation Review Committee (ARC) to successfully save Elmvale District High School from closure.
2017: Awarded the John Graves Simcoe Medal of Excellence.
