Elmer McFadden

Elmer McFadden, on January 17, 2021, passed away peacefully at home, at the farm where he was born

2016 Builder Inductee

Springwater Sports Heritage morns the loss of one of its outstanding and highly recognized Builder Inductees.  Elmer’s valued sporting contributions, following a positive playing career, began as a hockey coach and continued to evolve through a variety of increasing level of administrative responsibilities that reached the apex of minor hockey responsibility when he accepted the presidency of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA).  During the period of his presidency, he carried out his responsibilities with determination, innovation and success both locally and Internationally.  Following the completion of his OMHA presidency he was honourably designated as “A Life Member of the OMHA”.   Only an extraordinarily limited number, that serve the OMHA, achieve this distinguished level of recognition.  Elmer will also be remembered for his wide-ranging and extensive community service and dedication.  In his retirement he enjoyed many years being an active curler and supported the Elmvale Curling Club. It’s important to note that Elmer and his wife Evelyn (2014 Team Inductee) both are honorable members of Springwater Sports Heritage Hall of Fame.  Evelyn (In Memory) passed away only a few months ago.  May they both rest in peace.
