A Champion of Springwater’s Legacy

It is with heavy hearts that the Board of Springwater Sports Heritage (SSH) acknowledges the sudden passing of a truly remarkable leader and community champion, Linda Marchant-Belcourt.

While Linda’s academic brilliance was well-known since her youth, it was her tireless passion and work ethic for our Springwater community that defined her everyday contributions and professional legacy. As the recent owner of the Springwater News, which she grew to become the North Simcoe Springwater News, Linda was an architect of our community’s voice.

Linda’s commitment to SSH went beyond words. Recognizing the importance of preserving our local athletic history and keeping our community connected, Linda stepped forward last year to join SSH’s vital financial patronage group. She specifically took on the sponsorship of our social media activity, which allowed us to continue our partnership with Brenda Stanley at Heart of Business. This blended connection ensured that the stories of our athletes and builders reached the community. Her belief in our work was undeniable, and her thoughtfulness as a donor was a testament to her character.

Linda was a powerhouse of volunteerism and community leadership. Whether through her infectious enthusiasm in the newspaper or her quiet, steadfast financial support behind the scenes, she was always looking for ways to elevate Springwater.

Linda had a rare gift for using her undeniable abilities and platform to shine a light on local legacy and spirit. Her achievements were inspiring, and her commitment to Springwater was a gift to and for us all.

Linda’s passing is a monumental loss. We are profoundly grateful for the time she spent as our partner and the infectious passion she brought to everything she touched. Her legacy will continue to live on through the stories we all tell and the community she helped build.
