An Orr Lake resident, Kathy McCarroll has spent over 35 years building a more inclusive world through her extraordinary dedication to Special Olympics sports. Since 1991, Kathy has volunteered thousands of hours developing, training, and coaching athletes across a staggering array of sports, including Nordic skiing, track and field, and floor hockey. Her elite coaching expertise guided local athletes to dozens of Provincial and National Games, ultimately training national winners to compete at the World Games in Pyeongchang, Los Angeles, and Abu Dhabi. Formidably qualified across multiple disciplines, Kathy’s patience and advocacy earned her the Special Olympics Ontario Female Coach of the Year honours in 2018. Her profound legacy reflects a lifetime spent empowering athletes to overcome barriers and achieve their dreams.
