Kathy McCarrol Highlights
- 1986–93: Established deep roots in Springwater Township while residing in Elmvale, later moving to Orr Lake in 1993.
- 1987–Present: Joined the Barrie Special Olympics Community Council, anchoring vital sports programming and regional fundraising efforts for decades.
- 1991: Launched her highly impactful Special Olympics coaching career, beginning a lifelong pathway of elite athletic development.
- 1991: Developed and launched the foundational Special Olympics Nordic Skiing Program at Horseshoe Valley.
- 1993–Present: Selected through rigorous application processes to coach at dozens of successive Provincial and National Special Olympics Games across Canada.
- 1997–98: Honoured as the Special Olympics Volunteer of the Year for her exceptional selflessness and organizational leadership.
- 2013: Coached a local Canadian Nordic Skiing athlete to world elite status at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
- 2015: Formed part of Team Canada’s elite coaching staff, training a Track & Field athlete for the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles, USA.
- 2017: Awarded the prestigious Ontario 150 Award for Community Volunteering alongside the Special Olympics Ontario Coach of the Year award.
- 2018: Received the Special Olympics Ontario Female Coach of the Year honor in recognition of her peerless developmental training standards.
- 2019: Led a Track & Field athlete to global competitive heights at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
- 2020–Present: Expanded her local organizational footprint by joining the Huronia Special Olympics Community Council.
