George Allen’s Chapters Book on Sports-- George wrote this addendum to the story---his  insight  was applicable in other projects.
“Percy (Lion Franckom) was also responsible for helping Shirley Furlong get figure skating started in Elmvale and used his position with the Lions Club to help get financing for the new venture…Ballpark Lights were yet another example of using Club organizational                         capabilities to assist with the attainment of goals.”

Nov. 15 1965 From The Elmvale Lance  (Article reviewing the Int “C” organizational meeting) 
“Howard Ritchie, Lion Club president and another strong supporter of Intermediate “C” hockey, was in attendance. The Lions have kindly consented to improve the lighting system at the Arena and erect two additional dressing rooms for the convenience of the fans”

 1974  Reeve Knox Referring to the Arena --At the grand official opening of the upstairs kitchen addition added 
“,,,just about everything in here (the arena) was something that the Lions had a hand in”

1974  Reeve Earl Elliott commented as the above opening.  He referred to the Lions Club as the..
 “….unsung heroes of our community”

1993  Lions presenting a cheque for the final instalment of their $25,000 pledge toward the arena reconstruction. The Elmvale Lance editor commented..
 “The Lions Club gives generously to many of the arena needs.  They are thanked for their hard work. They should be proud of their contribution”
