Narrative:
I grew up in the era of mini-sticks and for several years begged my parents to play ice hockey. I started playing ball hockey and then baseball and finally my parents enrolled me into power skating. Next, I registered with the EMHA, the perfect environment that fostered my love of the game. EMHA is truly a great program rich in volunteers and it provided the opportunity to grow and develop. After 3 years as a Coyote, I transitioned to the BWHA, and my development and knowledge of the game continued to grow. As a Barrie Shark, I played with a core hockey family for 4 years and we competed and accomplished many goals. While at EDHS, I played 3 years on the Eagles Hockey Varsity Team. In my last year of Midget, I attended a tournament in Stoney Creek where I was approached by several University and Colleges in the United States. In the fall of 2018, I signed an NLI with POST University. I was drawn to the school because it resembles EDHS in so many ways. It’s a small community where the school’s slogan “Post makes it Personal” is lived throughout the quaint campus. I truly flew from one Eagles Nest at EDHS and landed at the Post Eagles Nest in the US. I was awarded both an academic and athletic scholarship. I am currently a freshman at Post University, I am completing a 4-year honors BSc in Sports Management degree. I play for the Post university Women’s Hockey team and we compete in the NCAA Division 1 NEWHA . I am proud to be a building member of the POST Eagles.
Anecodotes:
Having the opportunity to begin my hockey journey with EMHA, was the perfect environment to fall in love with the sport. Further, the opportunities to be supported in such a positive environment at EDHS truly set me up for success as I transitioned into a student athlete in the United States. Springwater will always be my home and own my heart.
