Mike has an extensive list of notable achievements: 6 time OFSSA Track Champion; while at University of Waterloo he held 2 Canadian Interscholastic records, 2 Canadian Junior Championship titles, Canadian Juvenile 400m Hurdle record, voted MVP Men’s Track and Field and still holds the University Indoor 600m record; several International medals; Canadian Senior 400m Hurdle Champion; 1980 Olympic Team; competed in volleyball and slo-pitch; coached; and member of the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame.

Mike was married for 33 years to his wife Sylvia, who also was a 1984 Canadian Olympian and managed the National Team for 10 years.

Career Highlights:

1972 - Mike’s successful career in Track and Field began in 1972 during his first year at Barrie North Collegiate.  He credits his first coach and mentor Jim Whitfield for getting him interested, first in Cross Country Running, followed by the Hurdles.  ...more highlights

Mike passed away peacefully at home, following an illness, on Tuesday, April 14th, 2015 at the age of 57.
