Stanley Ritchie (athlete) | Springwater Sports Heritage Hall Of Fame

Stanley Ritchie (athlete)

Induction Award:

For five decades Stan owned the blue line and consistently applied his athletic ability and unwavering strength of character for numerous hockey teams.  As a tough defenseman Stan was a “force to be reckoned with”.  In 1953-54 at 18 with the Midland Red Wings and coach Roy Conacher of NHL fame he won the OHA Junior “C” Championship and a tryout with the Toronto Marlboros.  For the next two decades he played outstanding Senior “A” hockey with Collingwood Shipbuilders and Barrie 7-Ups before returning home to Elmvale for Intermediate and Oldtimers hockey.  During the hockey offseason he excelled at regional fastball.
